Whew this one took me many years to finally let go of - and I'm still working on layers! I used to put on a mask and posture to what I thought people wanted to hear in my marketing messaging - you could tell how my voice and body language would changed.

Deep down I was afraid of not being perfect and not being liked so I also would try to explain everything "to cover my bases"... but what would happen is that it watered down the message and made it lonnnnnng. Oh so long. Instead of being concise, powerful and clear.

We are human beings and we never are going to be perfect.

Fear of Judgement

While speaking I couldn't help but imagine backlash and disagreement from people, as well as harsh criticism for not being good enough in a million different ways and measures.

Fear of Not Being Liked

While speaking I couldn't help imagining people who would be offended by this little thing I said and this little thing I said... on and on and on (puke).

Fear of Not Being Perfect

I would constantly analyze myself and get a running list of all my flaws, imperfections and things that "weren't at the level yet" I felt I needed to be to finally speak and change someone's life (wrong).

Authentic Communication

You don't need to have all the answers, you just need to share your experience

I believe...

When you tell people what you believe... you are NOT telling them what is right or wrong (which is key!). You are simply telling them what you believe - which gives them space and freedom - to choose what they believe.

I feel...

You aren't telling people what's right or wrong or "how it is" (UGH). You are being honest with how you feel about it. As a musician once told me "You can judge what people do, but you can't judge how they feel."

I've done...

To be blunt when we speak authoritatively about things we haven't done - we are talking out of our ass. Let's not do that. When you speak about your direct experience... no one can question it. You're not telling them what's right or wrong... you're just telling them what happened to you and what has worked for you.
